Overview
With over 20 years of experience in teaching and tutoring children from preschool to high school age, I would be happy to assist your children in honing their reading, writing, grammar, and English skills.
I taught my children to read by utilizing various early learning methods. For the past 20 years, I have been involved in their homeschooling and/or have taught at the private school they attended in Fresno.
Our daughter graduated when she was 16, at the top of her class, and is currently in her fourth year of pre-law. Our older son also graduated at 16 and is studying Classic Liberal Arts. Our younger son is in the 11th grade and will be graduating at the age of 17. He plans to pursue History Education.
Educational Background
I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from California State University of Fresno, having graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
I have a BA in English, also from CSU Fresno, and AAs in English and Psychology from Fresno City College.
I graduated from high school at the age of 14. From the time I was a teenager, I enjoyed tutoring my peers and helping them with their studies.
Tutoring Background
At the age of 18, I became a live-in tutor to six children ranging from four to 13 years. I worked with them for nearly two years in New Delhi, India.
From the time my children were toddlers, I involved them in “early learning” methods, using flash cards, math dots, and various programs to assist in their education. I homeschooled my children at various times in their educational journey.
Teaching Background
My children also attended a private school, where I taught elementary education for eight years (2015-2023). I taught all subjects with a focus on reading, writing, and literature.
I have returned to tutoring after nearly two decades of work in the realms of teaching, freelance editing, as well as educating my children. As a tutor in Fresno, CA, I would be happy to assist you or your children in reading, writing, grammar, comprehension, and communication.
My Story
From the time I was a young teenager, I had the desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives. This vision resulted in me traveling to India, where I spent over 11 years (1999 – 2010). I was involved in work with the Deaf in New Delhi, with the mentally challenged in Mumbai, and was involved in education for the underprivileged in Bangalore.
